Fascinated with fungal fruiting bodies, I found this puff-ball in the woods of South Georgia, Tuesday, and I became lost in the contrast between the coarseness of its expression, and how very alive it truly was.
On Wednesday, I came-across the desiccated corpse of a snapping turtle, and was struck by the endurance in the texture of its shell.
How is it that two, entirely dissimilar creatures can express themselves with such similarity, distanced by their genes, and at opposite ends in the cycle of their lives?
